From the Faculty Director of Learning and Teaching: the School of Languages and Cultures Periodic Review
The School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) underwent its Periodic Review in Learning and Teaching on 1 and 2 April and I’m delighted to report that the panel has reported back with some highly commendatory feedback on the quality of the provision and the experience of students in the School.
Top of the list comes the excellent environment for language learning which is created by the enthusiasm and engagement of all members of staff in the school; this is followed by the sense students have of being known and valued, and the rich variety of extracurricular activities which take place across the School in the form of plays, book clubs and sporting activities.
The year abroad was also singled out, both for the high level of support provided for students and for smart phone apps which colleagues have developed to give students better access to assessments during their year abroad.
These themes are similar to those which have recently come out from other periodic reviews in the Faculty and are testament to just how much we offer our students and their learning.
