From the Pro-Vice-Chancellor: Staff announcements

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of two new heads of department in the Faculty. Professor Dawn Hadley will become Head of the Department of Archaeology as of 1 September 2014, and Professor Penny Simons will become Head of the School of Languages and Cultures from the same date. In addition, Dr Roel Vismans will take up the role of Deputy Head of Languages and Cultures as of 1 September 2014.

I am sure you will want to join me in congratulating Dawn, Penny and Roel. Early in the next academic year, we will give the outgoing heads, Professor John Moreland and Professor Neil Bermel, our huge thanks in an appropriate setting.

Finally, congratulations to Professor Bob Shoemaker who has succeeded Professor Andrew Linn as Faculty Director of Research. And a large and variegated bouquet of thanks to Andrew for all his work on the Faculty’s behalf, including seeing us through not only the Research Excellence Framework but also the highly successful White Rose College of Arts and Humanities/Arts and Humanities Research Council studentship bid.
