Sheffield hosts ‘students as partners’ event

The Student Engagement team in Academic & Learning Services, in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Programmes Office in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, hosted a Higher Education Academy-sponsored national conference, Students as Partners in Undergraduate Research, in October 2013.

Undergraduate students, academic and professional staff from 28 different institutions attended to hear presentations on a range of initiatives and pedagogic approaches that engage students as active partners in research.

The event provided a stage for the University to showcase the Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) scheme, and two Student Ambassadors for Learning & Teaching (SALT) projects. The SALTs presented their findings from their research into interdisciplinary curriculum design and student integration in the academic environment.
