Two new CDs and a major performance for Dr Mary Dullea
This autumn sees the culmination of two projects for Director of Performance, pianist Mary Dullea at the Department of Music.
Her long-running collaboration with composer Simon Mawhinney in the form of a 50 minute work for solo piano, Marlacoo, will be released on Altarus Records, with performances in Belfast, Sheffield and Dublin.
South African composer Robert Fokkens’ debut CD on Métier sees Mary on premiere recordings of Nine Solitudes for solo piano and Mammals of Southern Africa, as commissioned by her piano trio, The Fidelio Trio.
The inaugural Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival takes place in Belvedere House, Dublin 1–3 November 2013 featuring a new commission by John Buckley and a collaboration with Michael Alcorn of SARC for piano trio and electronics.
Mary Dullea is a pianist who performs, records and broadcasts internationally as soloist and with The Fidelio Trio. As a soloist and chamber musician, Irish pianist Mary Dullea has built an impressive reputation as a performer and commissioner of new music performing internationally. She broadcasts regularly for BBC Radio 3 and RTE Lyric FM. She appears on CDs for NMC, Delphian, Altarus, Divine Art, Convivium and MN records. Concerto appearances include RTE Concert Orchestra, KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and a BBC commission with Lontano.
