Pre-requisites: An A Level in a modern foreign languageThis module provides you with an overview of key topics in the field of linguistics, with an emphasis on the structure of modern European languages and the social contexts in which they are used.
The module starts by introducing you to the structure of language and then moves on to explore sociolinguistic topics. We will look at sound systems, language variation and the complex relationship between language and social life. Topics will include phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, language variation, and sociolinguistics. Home page
